Josie Landy

I work for Dornan Engineering, I have worked up the ranks at Dornan starting as an admin on site 13 years ago to now working as Procurement manager based in our Office in Little Island. Working with a large team, we oversee and process all ordering across the whole Dornan Group . Dealing with our supply chain ensuring materials get delivered within budget and on time.
Alongside my day-to-day of though negotiations I also head up the Women @ Dornan employee Resource Group which is currently in its 2nd year. Working with a team of like-minded females and male Allies to change the perception of the industry both internally and externally. The network has looked closely at areas of concern such as our facilities, PPE and Policies, revamping them to keep in line with the needs of our female colleagues.
Its through my stint on site at the beginning of my career and more recently as the lead of the network that I have seen the barriers women are facing in our industry although not as noticeable as when I started in construction 20 years ago. There is still a lot to do on attracting and retaining women within our industry. That’s why enterprises like Women in Construction Ireland are important to encourage the conversations around changes needed, bring more women to come together sharing ideas and experiences
